Terrabella Wineries – Perseus Winery

On the outskirts of beautiful Penticton, BC, Perseus Winery welcomes you to the renowned Naramata Bench, undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking wine landscapes in the world.

With its contemporary star-motif label, the winery takes its name from the Perseus constellation, which can be seen from the winter night sky. The goal of the Perseus Winery team is to produce wines of character and distinction from some of British Columbia’s finest terroirs.

With its contemporary star-motif label, the winery takes its name from the Perseus constellation, which can be seen from the winter night sky. The goal of the Perseus Winery team is to produce wines of character and distinction from some of British Columbia’s finest terroirs. Grapes are sourced from the winery’s estate vineyards – Lower Bench Vineyard in Naramata and Sunrise Vineyard in West Kelowna, as well as from renowned growers who farm in some of the most famous locations in both the Similkameen and Okanagan Valleys.  These include, but are not limited to, Silver Station Vineyard overlooking Skaha Lake, Blind Creek Vineyard in Cawston, and Nk’Mip Vineyards in Oliver.  By nurturing these celebrated mesoclimates, Perseus makes a small but exciting collection of red, white and blended VQA wines. Only the best fruit is used, which determines from year to year the wines on offer.

Wine lovers and critics alike have been singing high praise for the winery and its wines.  The specialties so far are rich and aromatic Viognier and Pinot Gris, as well as bold, age worthy reds from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Malbec. The signature Perseus wine is a Bordeaux inspired blend, Invictus, which is latin for ‘unconquerable’.   This summer will also see the inaugural release of two sparkling wines that will be the perfect match to the Okanagan sun.  Capturing numerous awards since the summer of 2013, and having earned several 90-point-plus scores on the current release wines, Perseus has in only a short time hit the top of wine lovers’ must-haves list.  One of Canada’s most influential critics, Beppi Crosariol of the Globe and Mail, included the 2010 Invictus in his top 5 BC reds of 2013.

The winery itself is situated in a re-purposed 1950s house, and is a welcoming, must-visit spot featuring a bright, open tasting bar and a huge deck overlooking Penticton and Lake Okanagan. Here, knowledgeable staff will guide you through a tasting while you take in the stunning views. You can meet your friends for some sips while you plan the rest of your Naramata Bench Wineries tour, stroll the vineyard with a glass of Pinot Gris from those very vines, or purchase some “simply fresh food” supplied by Chef Paul Cecconi from Brodo Kitchen.  There is no better way to start or end your Naramata Bench experience than a visit to Perseus winery.
